the art of jon langford

Hello there! If you're a rolling stone, all alone and lost, then you too will be enamored by the works of Langford. No, I do not mean the Mekons (though I do have a real soft spot for them too). My favorite paintings of his capture a reverence for the halcyon days of country music, and a (rightful) deep disillusionment over its modern state.

  1. Yes!! I love Jon Langford's art. I was lucky enough to buy a piece from him at an art opening he had at a dive bar here years ago, he was just so nice and humble, it was a great experience. When we finally paint the rest of the house and unpack our art, I'll make sure to send you a photo of it, you'd adore it I think. :)

  3. Tasha, that's too cool!! I'd like to get some prints once I'm living somewhere a little more permanent, and it's so neat you got to meet him in person! I'm a huge fan of him and most of his musical projects.

Hannah, I'm so gad to've introduced you!! That shot of Johnny and June is a real treasure, I agree.

  4. You've introduced this Canadian lass for the first time, too, thank you very much. Each of these pieces is thoroughly terrific, but I'm especially sweet on the Woody Guthrie one (and adore the fact that the line "This land is your land" was included on it).

  7. These are so cool...like a more southern gothic version of the folk art-ish country star portraits you always see. I love a new take, thanks for telling me about him! The last (red) one may be my favorite.
